Tuesday Tunes (Nov. 23th)

Is it Tuesday already! Goodness!

I'm sure most of you have noticed that we kind of fell off of the face of the planet after Thursday last week!

Ang had a death in the family =( and my whole family is sick. Seriously, it's been about 2 years since I've had a cold and it's killing me! haha yes I'm a wimp.

Soooo for Tuesday Tunes I'm going to share one of my favorite songs from my 90's crush, Daniel John. Since I haven't been able to read anything new.

I Miss You Love by Silverchair
(the live version)

I was like 14 I think? when that song came out lol I was also in love with Daniel John (the lead singer)

Yes my mom was concerned

And no I turned out just fine lol

Anyways! We're fixing to start City of Bones as our next read BUT more importantly we are going to be doing a character interview with Kim from Awakened by Ednah Walters. (Monday is the day! err..hopefully!)

I finished the book up before the sick bomb hit us and (oh.em.gee) I'm ready for the sequel! Angels are soooo going to the the new "thang" I just know it!

Well I hope everyone enjoys their Tuesday AND has a safe/happy Turkey Day!!!

Booking it Through Thursday! (Nov.18)

You can play along: HERE

Today's question/s are:

"Who would you rather borrow from? Your library? Or a Friend?
(Or don’t your friends trust you to return their books?)
And, DO you return books you borrow?"

I would rather borrow from the library! With the library you have about 3 weeks (more/less) to read the books that you check out. I always feel like I have to speed read when I borrow a friends book because I have no idea what time frame would be acceptable to keep it! If I feel rushed to read something I don't enjoy it as much as I would if I could take my time reading it.

Oh and yes I have returned every single book that I have ever borrowed! I can't say the same for others that have borrowed my books! I lent out The Twilight Saga to my cousin a year ago and they have magically disappeared. She's moved twice since then so I'm assuming they were lost in one of the moves??? Annoys me a bit but lucky for her isn't wasn't one of my all time favorites...like The Southern Vampire Series...I'd probably disown her if those were the ones that she lost! (jk jk...well..maybe =P)

Happy Thursday!

Tuesday Tunes (Nov. 16th)

***Our blog is under construction at the moment so hang tight! lol We'll have everything in working order in a few days! Thank you for stopping by!***

♪ Now on with Tuesday Tunes!

As I've stated a million times before I'm currently reading Awakened by Ednah Walters.
(I'm not sure if I've actually said this before but fallen angels are going to be the new craze... I just know it!)

Lil is our main character/heroine and of course she has a semi-bad boy love interest, Bran. I say semi b/c I'm only on pg. 167 so he still has plenty of time to turn into a full on bad boy haha.

Anyways, after the character introduction of Bran I had this "ah ha" moment of what song he reminded me of...are you ready for it???...
.....wait for it...

...."Beautiful Disaster" by Kelly Clarkson...

You see, Bran is a special creature of sorts...he's half angel and well....half demon! His father (the angel) was forced to marry his mother (a laserith demon). Yikes!

One Angel + One Demon ='s Bran

Who is pictured on the cover of Awakened.

...wings...

...muscles...

yum!

lol So he's a troubled soul as one could imagine and I think this song fits him perfectly esp this section:

"He's magic and myth
As strong as what I believe
A tragedy with
More damage than a soul should see
But do I try to change him
So hard not to blame him"

Am I right or what! Aggh I love that song! So here's the full song with Miss Clarkson doing her thang!
Happy Tuesday!!!

Booking it Through Thursday!!!

You can play along  HERE

"It is November 11th, known here in the U.S. as Veteran’s Day, formerly Armistice Day to remember the end of WWI but expanded to honor all veterans who have fought for their country, so …
Do you read war stories? Fictional ones? Histories?"

I've read a few war stories. The one that sticks out the most is Peral Harbor, 1941by Nancy Holder. It's a short novel about a young girl named Bekah who has just finished up her nurses training is San Francisco, CA. Bekah, like most 20 year olds, is ready to go out in to the world to begin her life, but finds herself heading back to her past in Hawaii. Through out the book you find out that Bekah was previously engaged but lost her fiancĂ©e, David, in a terrible fire. She feels obligated to go back to the island to marry his twin brother, Ian. Fate has other plans...She ends up meeting a cocky Naval Ensign, Scott DeAngelo. At first Bekah is not amused by his "charm" but eventually he grows on her and she finds herself falling for him. Of course all of this leads up to the morning of December 7th, 1941. The ending of this book still haunts me because Nancy Holder paints such a vivid image you feel the loss, anger, and pain that happened on that important day in our history. I know it sounds like a girly book but honestly it's an excellent quick read and I highly recommend it!
Happy Thursday!!!

Mackie Doyle is not one of us. Though he lives in the small town of Gentry, he comes from a world of tunnels and black murky water, a world of living dead girls ruled by a little tattooed princess. He is a Replacement, left in the crib of a human baby sixteen years ago. Now, because of fatal allergies to iron, blood, and consecrated ground, Mackie is fighting to survive in the human world.  Mackie would give anything to live among us, to practice on his bass or spend time with his crush, Tate. But when Tate's baby sister goes missing, Mackie is drawn irrevocably into the underworld of Gentry, known as Mayhem. He must face the dark creatures of the Slag Heaps and find his rightful place, in our world, or theirs.

Tuesday Tunes

First off....Yay for Tuesdays!

I'm partial to days that begin with T's for some reason. So Tuesdays and Thursday are my feel good days. Why? No idea but enough about me!

We're going to be doing a daily meme on our blog. Mostly to help us keep it going but also to help our little bitty blog get out into the big wide blogasphere.

Tuesdays and awesomeness that comes along with them are going to be dedicated to two of my favorite things: Books and Music.

I'm not sure about you but when I'm listening to my ipod every now and then a song will pop up and I'll think to myself "Hey that reminds me of so&so from such&such" =P

I love love love when authors have a play list for their novels! Especially when both the novel and the music are synchronized...my brain goes into overdrive when things like that happens because it's just too much awesomeness for it to handle!

So here's the deal... every Tuesday post a song that reminds you of something that you are currently reading.

For example: Our book club just finished reading Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick. We attended a twitter party hosted by @galleysmith were we got to ask Becca a few question regarding Hush, Hush and her newest novel (sequel to Hush, Hush) Crescendo. I asked her if there was a certain song/songs that reminded her of any of her characters and she said "Trouble is a Friend" by Lenka. Of course I checked it out and O.M.G.  it fits the two main characters to a T. (See there I go again the with T's...I really need to look into my obsession with those...).

So our first official Tuesday Tunes is going to be dedicated to Becca for her suggestion of "Trouble is a Friend" by Lenka. This song will be stuck in your head for days if you're a Patch/Nora fan!

Upcoming Author Interview with Ednah Walters

Most of you have heard by now but I still wanted to put it out there that Hook Bookers is going to be having our very first AUTHOR/CHARACTER INTERVIEW with Ednah Walters on her debut novel "Awakened".

Raise your hand if you're excited!

Can a get a "WOO" from the "WOO GIRLS!" (<= click the link to youtube & you will see where I get this from haha)

Right now I'm just waiting on my copy of  "Awakened" to come through the mail. Barnes and Noble decided it would be funny to send it to me by itself...three days later than the rest of my books....so no "Woo" for you Barnes and Noble...

Anyways, I plan on speed reading it so I can get the question to Ednah ASAP and hopefully have the interview/giveaway sometime next week.

So keep a look out for us on Twitter, our Facebook page, and here so you can learn more about the first novel in The Guardian Legacy Series: "Awakened" and have a chance to win some cool swag!

Just for shiggles "Woooo" lol
